Anticipation of novelties of the Italian luxury brand
Fortis presents high-quality pilot’s watches at THE SHOW
“Tool watches” is a modern term for functional watches that satisfy exacting demands. And alongside the brand’s traditional connection to aerospace, “tool watches” is the program to which Fortis is committed: “Our focus is on the tool watch in the upper premium segment,” explains owner Jupp Philipp. “Watches from Fortis are conceived to be highly luxurious and very functional – combined with sophisticated design.”
Philipp, who took the reins at Fortis in 2018, achieves these goals by beginning with his own expectations: “I have very precise ideas of what a watch ought to be. I don’t want to have to take too much care of it. I want to be able to wear it while playing sports. And I still have something of high quality on my wrist.”
These demands are fully upheld by the new products that Fortis is presenting at THE SHOW. One highlight is the “Flieger F-39 Midnight Blue” model. Thanks to a GMT bezel on its stainless steel case, this self-winding wristwatch enables its wearer to read the time in a second time zone. Contrasting colors and luminescent material make the distinctively styled dial particularly easy to read. An interesting feature is the “Synchroline” display, which facilitates the synchronization of several watches and is useful for pilots flying in formation.
The “F-43 Triple-GMT on Block Bracelet” is a self-winding watch that can display three different time zones. Fortis hails this model as the “best pilot’s watch ever” thanks to its functionality, robustness and distinctive design.
With ambitious models like these, Fortis is striving to achieve even loftier goals in the future: “We want our watches to accompany astronauts to Mars,” says owner Jupp Philipp. “We are working with various space organizations and will participate in an analogue Mars mission in Israel this fall. We have developed a special watch for this – it performs all the necessary functions and it also has a handsome appearance.”
