“We will present a world premiere”

Lang & Heyne stands for the time-honored tradition of the authentic watchmaker’s art. The movements that are designed and manufactured at the manufactory in Dresden are fascinating thanks to their aesthetics. Managing Director Alexander Gutierrez-Diaz explains in this interview that these exquisite timepieces will also captivate visitors at THE SHOW.

Face-to-face meetings were difficult for a long time and it was nearly impossible to present watches personally. Does this make THE SHOW particularly important for you now?

Alexander Gutierrez-Diaz: THE SHOW is a terrific opportunity for Lang & Heyne because it enables us to directly address people who are interested in jewelry and watches. And the special aspect of this event is that we can also meet our retail partners and jewelers from all over German-speaking Europe, whom we have not been able to visit for quite some time. Our products embody the highest level of craftsmanship, which we can best show and present to interested people in person. The finesse of our timepieces simply cannot be fully shown by media. It can be admired best directly on the wrist.

Lang & Heyne manufactures exclusively mechanical watches and focuses on tradition and craftsmanship. Is there a new appreciation for these values?

We are living in a time when people are yearning for deceleration, authentic craftsmanship, sustainability, consistency and individualization. This trend can be recognized not only in the watch industry, but in all areas of life, e.g. fashion, nutrition and many others. A watch from Lang & Heyne satisfies this yearning. Our timepieces are manually crafted in Saxony with meticulous precision handcraftsmanship, high-tech and choice materials. In addition, we can take our customers’ wishes into consideration – and our mechanical watches have no expiration date. These time-honored virtues are all the more appreciated in an increasingly digitalized world.

What can visitors at THE SHOW look forward to? Which collections and which watches will you present?

Our visitors can look forward to experiencing the finest craftsmanship and absolutely beautiful watches that interpret Saxon watchmaking tradition in a contemporary way and with the best possible finish. In addition, we’ll celebrate our twentieth anniversary with a world premiere on the opening Sunday of THE SHOW. Have I sparked your curiosity?
